Jacob M. Ritchey


Jacob M. Ritchey was born on March 26, 1827, in Rays Cove, Bedford Co. PA. He was a member of Company E 199th Regiment Pennsylvania during the civil war. He died during the war at Fortress Monroe at the Hampton Hospital in Hampton VA. He died on December 23, 1864 and is buried at the Asbury Cemetery.

Married:

Eliza Jane Manspeaker, daughter of John and Barbara Manspeaker, on April 3, 1851 in East Providence Twp., Bedford Co. PA. Eliza was born on August 28, 1826, in Rays Cove, Bedford Co. PA and died in Graceville, Bedford Co. PA on July 15, 1892. She is buried at the Asbury Cemetery.

Children, the following children were listed by Eliza when she applied for widows pension:

John Alexander, born September 16, 1852.

Mary, born May 9, 1854, died May 18, 1854, buried Asbury Cemetery.

Winfield Scott, born July 4, 1855.

Jennie Lind, born April 9, 1857, died January 6, 1937. Maried Samuel Metz, born May 16, 1865, died January 25, 1924. Both are buried at the Asbury Cemetery.

Zachariah Taylor, born June 6, 1858. Married Susan Wilt in Mt. Pleasant on March 16, 1881. Had daughter named Estella born August 26, 1881.

Alfred Lincoln, born June 5, 1860.

David McClellan, born December 15, 1861, died February 12, 1947. Married Sarah A., born August 12, 1861, died April 6, 1943. Both are buried at the Asbury Cemetery. David and Sarah had a daughter Euie Elsie, born June 12, 1892 and died October 4, 1901.
