Ritchey, original member of Trinty Reform Church of Everett, organized 1843, ministry of Matthew Irvin. 320 Adam S. Ritchey, charter member and treasurer, 1867, Odd Fellows of Everett, Bloody Run Lodge No. 600 instituted May 13, 1867 324 John and Simon Ritchey, and Henry Hinish were among the early settlers in Rays Cove. 325 Anna Ritchey, daugher of Simon Ritchey of Rays Cove, married Jacob H. Hinish son of Adam Hinish and Susan Ready. They had four children. Jacob & George were in 199th PA Reg. Co. E. 326 Jacob Ritchey, son of Michael ritchey married Eliza Manspeaker daughter of John Manspeaker. Jacob was one of a family of five children. He followed farming until 1864, when he enlisted in September and the following December, he died at Fortress Monroe. He was the father of seven children. 330 Peter and Andrew Ritchey, Asbury M. E. 330 Simon and W.C. Ritchey, Odd Fellows of Rays Hill, Lodge No. 776 348 Ritcheys, the Ritchey's are of German descent. Adam and Wm. came to this county from VA soon after the Rev. war. Adam settled in the loop in East Providence Twp. and lived in the same house with a Mr. Livingstone. He moved to the foot of Millers Knob, and for some time his family was obliged to seek shelter at Fort Piper at night to protect themselves from Indians. Adam Ritchey's children were: Henry, John, Jacob, Daniel, Michael, Eva and Susan. Daniel lived upon the homestead and was the father of Adam S., David, Joseph, James W., Daniel, Mary, Catherine, Martha and Amelia. Adam S., David and Joseph were in the late war. David died at Petersburg. Adam S. served three terms of enlistment, in all over four years. He is now living at Tatesville and keeping store. He has resided in his present location since 1868. His wife is Elizabeth Ramage. 349 Thomas M. Ritchey, Tatesville, erected the first building in 1858 or 1859 and kept the first store and tavern. 350 Samuel Ritchey and Isaac Ritchey, Hopewell Church of the Brethern or German Baptist Church, erected 1850 Samuel, officer, Isaac, first preacher 351 Rachel Ritchey, married Uriah Gordon, Union Twp. 352 Ferdinand Ritchey, came to Union Twp from VA in 1842 and has since been engaged in farming. He married, first, Martha Corl and second, Catherine Whysong. Served in the late war as a member of the 55th Reg Co. K PA Vols from Sept. 8, 1861 to Aug. 30, 1865 when he was honorably discharged. From "True Stories of Broad Top Mountain", author died in 1885 pg. 24 Simon Ritchey who is still living but quite old. he is the nimrod of the cove.
